Natural Cleaning Tips: How to make your home smell fresh and clean

Clean home smell with Borax and Baking Soda

Great tips here for other uses for Borax.

If you are just starting out switching your home from the poisons and chemicals of the majority of household cleaners to the natural solutions, you may not have heard of Borax yet.

Borax has been around for years and you can find it in almost all grocery stores. Publix, Wal-Mart, Target, Kroger, they all carry borax and it has many uses.

Here in this use we can combine Borax and Baking soda with a little essential oil to deodorize carpets in your home.

Carpets can become dirty and smelly pretty quickly and can hold a nasty smell in the fibers that is difficult to get out.

Chemical carpet deodorizers are not great for children or adults and can affect breathing and cause headaches and sore throats, so this is a great alternative that will kill the bacteria that causes the bad odors.

Just a little warning. Some people have suggested that the essential oils may be dangerous to cats, although they do a great job of cleaning up the odor caused by cats or dogs in the home.

Also, there may be damage to the vacuum cleaner over time as the borax particles are really small and can build up and cause a paste in the motor of the vacuum and destroy it.

Never had either problem myself, but something to consider nonetheless.
